Sungel Suspension

Sungel Suspension

Sungel Suspension is a generic of Dimethyl Polysiloxane, Dried Aluminum Hydroxide Gel, and Magnesium Hydroxide. This medication functions by decreasing the amount of acid in the stomach by inhibiting pepsin, which is a proteolytic enzyme, and belongs to the group of medications known as “Antacids.”

Sungel Suspension

Dimethyl Polysiloxane functions as an antifoaming. It functions by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles, which helps relieve bloating and gas discomfort. It interrupts gas bubbles in the digestive system and facilitates their expulsion. As a result, the bubbles in the stomach combine to produce larger ones that the body passes by belching. Additionally, this develops the pH level in the stomach.

Additionally, the body uses dried Aluminum Hydroxide gel as an antacid for heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach. This acid structure neutralizes hydrochloric acid in gastric secretions. Its functional mechanism remains steady in the stomach and engages with hydrochloric acid to form water and aluminum chloride. That also hinders pepsin's function by raising the pH level. This composition mitigates the soreness, engages with hyper-acidity, and protects the lining of the stomach by neutralizing excess acid.

Magnesium Hydroxide neutralizes stomach acid or draws water into the intestine to soften stools. The added water increases the volume of the intestinal contents, which encourages peristalsis, the wave-like muscle compression that moves food through the digestive system. Second, magnesium ions stimulate the production of certain digestive hormones, which further enhance bowel motility.

Pepsin is a digestive enzyme that happens inside the stomach and breaks down proteins into small peptides. That is an aspartic protease, meaning it uses acidic conditions and aspartate residues in its active site to catalyze the breakdown of proteins. Pepsin is initially secreted as an inactive precursor called pepsinogen, which is then activated by the acidic environment of the stomach. It targets peptide bonds, which are the links between amino acids.
